I've been working. I've been knitting, and biking, and trying to get The Cupcake to school on time (Kindergarten!), and homeschooling The Biscuit (unschooling actually, which turns out to take more time & effort on my part but scares people), and wiping noses and bottoms, and connecting with hilarious people and grumpy family on Facebook, meeting tons of Bikey Friends on Twitter, and doing dishes, and laundry. Oh, and I've been helping with the accounting side of a wonderful new magazine... which I don't have time to read myself. The guilt I feel when any one of these plates that I have spinning crashes to the floor is overwhelming and leaves me in a depressed place that does no good; the depression is not so huge I can't get moving after a bit of a wallow, but it still leads to more of those spinning plates falling. Here I am, trying now to catch them before they shatter because that’s all I can manage today.
And now you know why I haven't posted.
If I have more time this weekend I will add photos to this. Otherwise you can see some on my Flickr stream.

Best Comment Ever?
I regularly read The Bloggess and occasionally see comments from Jamie, The Very Worst Missionary. Finally a post title made me click through and read her blog. It's not that it was a supremely compelling title, it was actually the "y'all" that caught my ear/eye. And it turns out it's a great post, funny and insightful at the same time. You should go read it. Then I came across this comment from Erica (my apologies for not being able to link directly to the comment):
It never clicked for me that keeping Kosher means no cheeseburgers, and certainly no bacon cheeseburgers, but of course it does. This has been making me laugh for days. I thought that made it worthy of blogging, if only so I can come back and laugh more.

...I am SO. FREAKIN'. HAPPY FOR YOU! ABOUT YOUR HAMBURGER! Good God in the hot tub, praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ who died to set us free from the law that we may have cheese and bacon on the flesh of a cow that has been flame broiled, I praise his holy name.

Meet a New Internet Friend
I've been silent a long time, and I've discovered it's time to get back to writing. I'm inspired this post by Kit at Blogging Dangerously. Most of her blog is NSFW, but that one post is. Frankly, her blog has helped some of the blocks that I didn't even realized I'd put up in my own mind, so I think the whole "safe" thing is kind of funny. Because really, should you be reading any blogs at work? No. So is hers worse to read at work than others? No. Read it on your own time like a grown-up.
So, if you'd like, go read some of her writing for herself. She's a mom with 4 kids, a husband & a healthy sex life. No shame there.

Ok, I admit it, I suck at this blogging thing. I have plenty to say when I read posts on someone else's blog, but then not much left when it comes to here.
And as I go to bed with the children -- literally in our big bed with the two of them -- there isn't that coveted mommy time at the computer after they are sleeping. I'm struggling with how on earth to get The Cupcake to sleep by herself after 9pm instead of on or by me or my husband. Honestly I thought I would be having a problem getting a pacifier away from her at age 3, not getting *me* away from her at 11 months old. Every once in awhile I can roll away from her, put a sleeping Biscuit in his bed and then go see what my guy is up to, but it's rare. I usually fall asleep with them and just get back into whatever side of the bed she has left me after I put him down. It's sad. She's quite the bed-hog and I miss my hubby.
Which is all kind of beside the point because I thought of something to say today. I have a pet peeve language-wise. People breathe in and out, their breath is what they breathe in and out. Use the "e" for the verb, people! And clothes are what we wear. The plural of cloth is cloths. I know it's not following the "add 'es' when the word ends in 'th'" rule, but that's because "clothes" is already a word. Please!
It reminds me of this xkcd comic, except that I've been annoyed with Freecycle and Craigslist, not the whole internet. I've been on them looking for a free or almost-free dryer that is electric. Modifying this rental house for our gas dryer is not going to work. And I can't keep hauling everything to the laundromat as that is too expensive in both time and money. Ack. Whine.
Off to make grilled cheese! Ever tried it with a slice of tomato? Mmm. Excellent. Better than with ham. Even better still is with both ham and tomato!

NaBloPoMo 2007
Last year I made an attempt to post every day in November as part of National Blog Posting Month '06. Ha! As you can see, I only managed 2 posts and then succumbed to the sleepiness of pregnancy.
This year I am not an official participant, mostly because I forgot to go sign up in October, but don't let that stop you. I'm still going to try to be better at getting my thoughts down. If that means I have to write on paper because the little ones don't want me sitting at my computer (oh, the whining!) so be it. I'll just put dates on the things I write long-hand and use that date when that entry gets transcribed.
I hope this works. I have at least 3 Works for Me Wednesday posts in my head, but I haven't posted them because if I don't sit down on Tuesday night then it's not right, right? Wrong! My new way of thinking is to write them ahead of time and then publish on Wednesday. Let's see if between paper and drafts I can get more productive.
